Hi there, another query from the UK

I am searching for some advice! My partner ...... is planning on coming to Australia to live/work, is interested in becoming a massage therapist. He has found a course her in the uk which is a 10 day intensive course. Other then that he would n't have any qualifications or experience in the field.

What course/experience would you recommend he takes so he can come to Australia and work in massage therapy?

or would you recommend he studies in Australia? is a 10 day course any good?

Thanks for getting in touch with us.  It is recommended that therapists obtain a qualification in the UK to NVQ Level 5.  This correlates to the level 5 Diploma in Australia and would increase your partner's chances of obtaining recognition through VETASSESS and accordingly professional indemnity as a therapist - a requirement for most employment situations.  I hope this helps with your enquiry.  Why not visit www.vetassess.com.au for more information about qualifications and recognition in Australia. 

Before enrolling in the 10 day intensive check out the level 5 courses in the UK and ask for more information from the trainers offering the course.  Studying a course of this level in Australia would take about 1 year and your partner's access to these would depend on vias arrangements.  Again see vetassess for more details.
